Playing catch up
The title of this blog explains life these days with two kiddos. I feel like so much time has elapsed since our last blog update but when I look back we really haven't done anything exciting. You've adjusted rather well to your new classroom at daycare. Secretly, I love the fact that we can now order books on a monthly basis from Scholastic/Honeybee/Firefly--I was a little disappointed after receiving our first order and finding the books weren't hardback but I decided to just keep the books out of your reach for now until you're a little older.
Potty-training. It's going well then it's not. Last Sunday you pooped in the potty for the first time. It took reading a book but ten minutes later you finished your business. You were super excited about the sticker reward but could care less about flushing the toilet. You haven't done anything in the potty since then, though. We've even worn pull-ups a couple of times since then and you let us know immediately that you've peed (thanks to the cool-feel liner) but you just don't grasp the fact that you have to tell us before you do it. I bought some Elmo panties thinking that might help you use the potty regularly and even bought a new Elmo potty seat but I decided not to push you too much on the panties---I know you can do it and you will in your own time. For now, we'll just stick with taking you to the potty when you ask to go.
You're still totally in love with Aiden. You try to help me with him all the time. You are overall an awesome big sister and I can already see a special bond developing between the two of you. We still have some work to do on the "gentle" concept but you're getting better.
I've decided that I want to redecorate your bedroom. I just don't really like the bedding/drapes that we currently have in there and quite honestly it's really not the theme I wanted to go for when we moved you into a big girl room but it's what our budget could handle at the time. Aunt June doesn't know this yet but we're going to be requesting she make your new duvet, decorative pillows and drapes--that is, once I find some fabric that I like.
Your vocabulary has absolutely exploded. You're talking nonstop these days and we can understand 90% of what you say. I love our afternoon conversations in the car after daycare. You're already pretty opinionated and have a mind of your own. You've started shaking your head no when we tell you to do something you don't want to do but you will still do what you're told for the most part. The threat of time out will usually do the trick and you don't get sent there very often.
I'll post some pics when I get some uploaded. For now, I'm off to feed your little brother, for the millionth time today....
I love you sweetpea!

Re: Playing catch up
I 'm so glad your class is going so well for you! I'm sure you're having a great time being around all the other kids! I knew you would be a terrific big sister because I see how sweet and sensitive you are. I miss you and I love you more than you could ever know! (...and I can't wait until mommy starts letting you spend a little one on one time with your Aunt Pen!) :)
